Departure from BARBOTAN direction > CAZAUBON > LABASTIDE D'ARMAGNAC
step 1

Notre Dame des Cyclistes

Sanctuaire National du Cyclisme

As you approach Labastide d’Armagnac, a curious portico adorned with cycles catches your eye. It marks the entrance to the National Cycling Sanctuary. Since 1959, the Chapelle des Cyclistes has housed a collection of champions’ jerseys: Poulidor, Mercks, Ocaña, Virenque, Jeanie Longo… From the big bi to the letter carrier’s bike, the unusual two-wheelers are preciously preserved here.

step 2

Labastide d'Armagnac

One of the most beautiful bastides in the South-West

Located in the east of the Landes département, on the border with the Gers, Labastide d’Armagnac is one of the most beautiful bastides in the South-West. These new towns date back to the Middle Ages, and were built for political, economic and architectural reasons. Labastide d’Armagnac was founded in 1291 by Count Bernard VI of Armagnac and the King of England. The Place Royale is still surrounded by the same arcades and covered passageways. Half-timbered houses add to its originality and charm.

The Armagnac Ecomuseum

The history of France’s oldest eau de vie

Operated by volunteers in the form of an association, the Écomusée de l’Armagnac is an excellent initiative for discovering the history of this extraordinary eau de vie. Dedicated to promoting the Armagnac terroir, the Écomusée is located at Château Garreau, an estate considered one of the finest Armagnac jewels in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac golden triangle.

step 4

The Musée du Paysan Gascon

Rural life of yesteryear

Set sail on a journey to discover life in other times through houses, craft workshops and agricultural spaces. The museum offers tours suitable for families, groups and individuals. You can also take advantage of large, fully-equipped open-air spaces. Much more than a souvenir of your visit, the museum organizes events to immerse you in Gascon traditions, a unique moment to share.

Last stage
